Mass-produced housing systems and installations may be placed on the market and sold in Switzerland only if they are licensed under the Swiss Animal Welfare Act.

The testing and licensing of mass-produced housing systems and installations for the keeping of cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, poultry and rabbits is the responsibility of the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office. This task is carried out by the two Centres for Proper Housing.
